What do I need to get HID lights on my 98 Mustang?
I have a 98 Mustang and more and more everyday I start to realize how little my headlights are doing for me. The only thing they do for me is let other people know I'm there, but as for anything on the road I can't see a thing. So I have been very interested in getting HIDs. A few of my friends put conversion kits on their cars and really love it. Can someone point me in the direction of a good kit? I have read 5,000 K has the best visibility is that true? Is xenonlink.com a good site to buy from? Do I need Xenon or Bi-Xenon and what is the difference?
Most importantly I don't have to buy new headlights I just buy the bulbs and the wiring which converts it to HID. Is that correct? Thanks to all answers
My understanding I need a 9007 bulb 5,000K kit. I just don't know whether it is Bi-Xenon or Xenon.
I put a bi xenon kit on my mustang a few years back, and I think it's a great idea.
Bi xenon is the capability to have hid lighting in both your low and high beams. Normally it's just low beams. Your 9007 bulb type means that it's a dual filament bulb, and the same bulb is used to produce low and high beams. Bi xenon kits are more expensive, but the increased lighting is excellent. Definitely get bi xenon if you do any driving where you get to use high beams.
You just need to buy the wiring harness and bulbs, correct. I bought mine from stangmods.com. I don't have any experience with xenonlink.com.
The 5000K refers to the color temperature. The higher you go (12000K for example) the more blue/purple it is. The lower you go, the closer to yellow it is(3000K), but it will also give you the highest lumen output(the brighter it will be). 5000 will give you a white looking light.
