My PC is connected to my A/V receiver via optical cable but I get bad sound quality?
If I play the same CD on my CD player connected to the A/V system with the same optical cable I get a high quality sound that comes out of all 5 channels and the sub woofer. When I play the CD through my PC, I only get two channel sound out of the left and right speakers. Any suggestions on how to get the same sound quality when I play CD's on the computer?
Many audio chipsets built into the motherboard are notorious for poor sound quality, are you using a high-end add on sound card? If not, I suggest that you try an upgrade. I had poor sound with a lot of noise until I upgraded to a Soundblaster X-fi card. As far as only getting 2-channel sound, try adjusting the settings in your drivers.
