Is there a way to force a power surge?
I'd like to force a power surge into a consumer electronic.(Approximately 80 Watts) This is mostly for experiemental purposes as well as a dry run in replacing components that would fail in a laptop left plugged in. It is working on a 110 system.
Sure you can, but I am not sure about the safety or possible outcomes in Watts/Amps/Volts. 80 Watts is pretty serious experiment. Watts+Amps is what kills.
You could try renting a Genset for home. That test could be safely done outside. With a nod towards common sense.
