My Mom's auto door lock is stuck in the locked position and her car door will not close. Every time she hits the unlock button on her key less entry, it makes a strange noise and nothing happens. At this point all of the mechanics are closed and she is supposed to leave for vacation early in the morning!! She will not be able to go if her door will not close because she is supposed to drive and has no other vehicle. What can she do and what could the problem be? Thanks in advance!!
You might have bent the actuation rod, as a result of the door locks getting difficult to release. Try using a spray lubricant (i.e. WD 40) and spray down the locking mechanism on the door, trying to aim into the mechanism to hit the interior stuff (be sure to not overdue it, and make sure the window is fully up). Then manually lock/unlock the unit a dozen times or so, to work the lubricant in.
I'd normally tell you to pull the panel and scope things out, but since you're looking to do a "quick and dirty", this should do it for you.
