I want a nice home theater receiver with AT LEAST 2 HDMI inputs if not 3, hdmi conversion so I can hook up to my TV with one hdmi cable, video upconversion/upscaling to 1080i/p, DTS and/or Dolby Digital capable, maybe a bass boost button, and at least 5.1 channels, and plenty of inputs. I don't need built in blu ray or dvd, or networking, or ipod dock or usb or anything. I don't want multiroom either. I have speakers. They're sorta old but work great with my basic stereo. I'm new at this and what speaker outputs would it have? My speakers have the basic two red and black wires. I would like to spend up to $300 but am willing to go to $400. Feel free to recommend ones with higher prices, though. I can save up.
oh and no 3D either. and with the multiroom its fine if its there but if it'll bring the price down leave it out. same with 3D.
Easy check out best buy they have a good selection from Yamaha, Onkyo, and Denon all three of these manufactures should have the specs you are looking for. You should also check ebay as well, sometimes you save alot on a unit that's slightly used. you should also go to the web site of the individual companies i suggested just add .com to any of the three to see their entire line up there you could select and compare the different units. I like it because it also gives you a dollar amount. A standard 5.1 has your front left and right a center for right below/top/next to your tv and two surround left and right for sound effects (you don't get sound from them 100% of the time so don't think your set up is broken or not working properly) as far as a bass boost they are not really found since the .1 portion is for a powered subwoofer with it it has its own volume control you can boost it as much as you want (most receivers also have an additional level control built in for the sub) As far as the wires they are still just a red and a black.
