I have a sony head unit and Alpine speakers plus tweeters. 10 pointys.?
I want to put an eq/booster, you know the junk they sold in 80's. My question is the eq comes with 2 wires that I guess with a converter would be for amp. Am I right and just cap them and hook up the 4 sets of speaker wires? I am doing this because I will be running a 1000 watt rockford with componet speakers in back of Jimmy (2001) and willhave to wait.
If you don't have the amp yet then just cap them off. If you've already got an amp then you'll need to run the eq to the amp. If you don't then you basically don't have an eq, because the sound won't be coming from the head unit, it will be coming from the amp.
If you're getting 4 sets of components... ALONG with an amp. You won't need the eq, I know that for sure.
Components come with mids, tweeters, crossovers. The crossover will seperate the frequency, and send the highs to the tweeters and the mids to the mids. On top of having that, your amp will also have a high pass filter in it, good for putting on your components, then you have the gains, all the controls your amp will come with. 1000 watts is alot of power for door speakers. I bet they'll sound great.
