i have a boombox cd player and the CD player eye and motor are damaged. i'd like to wire a stereo mini jack into the player so i can play my mp3 player through it. (i am not intrested in useing a fm transmitter and there is no tape deck for a modulator.) how would i find the right wires to tap into in order to install this option? i could just buy one with aux input but it's for work and i need something i dont mind getting beat up.
This is not guaranteed to work, but often you will find that the input to the power amp is wired to the volume control. Assuming it's a stereo unit, you may find that the volume control is a "dual gang" type and therefore you could wire the central pins to the left and right output respectively of your MP3 player.
However, it would be much better if you can find a wiring diagram of the boombox somewhere online to check this out first, as I would hate you to cause any damage to your MP3 player!
