They are really as extra decoration, as they will be away from theceiling with neon coloured bulbs, so also, what is your opinion of this?
Where i want the lights is near electrcal sockets, so wires will be near by there. Is this of any use?
On the strip lights you will have a connection point. The ones I have seen were on the ends and then you connect the wires on the end piece to the power. What you could do is to drill a small hole through the ceiling to run the wires through and connect it wire for wire onto the two wires of your existing light. You can use an extension cable and screw-its to extend this point.
The idea I saw and like was a smoked or coloured perspex or plastic panel that was distanced from the wall with tubes and the rope or fairy lights looped behind it. It makes a nice feature.
