Is there an external antenna adapter that will link a sky fi 2 and a streamer to the same antenna?
I have just purchased a sirius sat. unit to complement my xm receiver so I can cont. to listen to nascar. I already have a 'mushroom' antenna hooked to the mirror mount of my truck and am right now using the mag. mouse for the streamer. I was wondering if there is an adaptor I could purchase that would link both receivers to the 'mushroom' or do I have to continue to run 2 antennae? Thnx for any help I can get.
Not the cheapest thing out there but I found a splitter for an XM antenna:
http://www.xm-radio-satellite.com/index.asp?PageAction=Custom&ID=64
The XM signal uses 12.5 MHz of the S band: 2332.5 to 2345.0 MHz.
Sirius broadcasts using 12.5 MHz of the S band between 2320 and 2332.5 MHz.
These are likely close enough to use the same antenna for both services, but the antenna my have a passive high or low pass filter that blocks the competitor's signal for better reception (less interference).
Also note that when you split two RF signals the output to each receiver will be -3.5dB...in other words more than half the power will be lost on each output channel.
In terms of cost and reception it may be to your advantage just to run the second antenna.
Good Luck!
