does a manual transmission have a neutral safety switch?
is it used when the shifter is in gear and you turn the ignition key, the engine wont start?
do manual transmissions that have this switch must start the engine while the clutch pedal is depressed?
Yes they do, but it's strictly based on the clutch pedal. There's a switch that is activated when the clutch pedal is pushed down far enough, that will allow the car to start. As for the transmission, no, it doesn't know if it is in gear or not.
