Lanzar Vibe 250 stuck in protection mode?

I have a lanzar 250 that when i connect it to my speaker box the same way i have another amp that works fine the lanzar will play for a split second then go to protection mode. Could the power and ground wires be too small of a gage. The wiring i have is for a 600 watt amp, the lanzar is a 1000 watt amp. Any ideas.
The speakers i am using are fosgate p1 which are 4ohm and i used a 8gauge power and ground wire. The amp i have connected now works just fine. Could i need a bigger gauge power wire and fuse?
Both the fuses on the amp are good and the inline fuse is good.

Ok, make sure that your ground is on bare metal. Make sure that your RCA jacks in the back of your HU are working (they most likely are). You should prolly get a 8 gauge ground wire and a 4 gauge power wire if you already dont.
