i have a 79 corvette and i need some help removing the center gauge bezel. reason is i bought a new stereo for it and i need to put a gauge bezel that will fit the new radio since the stock bezel only fits the older radios. ive been looking for some help but hav not found anytthing. if anyone has info on how to remove this i would greatly apreciate it
Well if you remove the gauge cluster bezel it is a complete one piece item that extends all the way from below the radio until way up higher to the top of the instrumentation cluster....about 10 inches anhow for this piece. There are a couple of options:
1. Remove the entire instrument bezel (yes the 10 inch total bezel) and cut away with a small hack saw at the radio area to make it wider to accomdate a DIN type stereo of today.
2. PUrchase a DIN ready bezel plate from a corvette place. I purchased mine at Ecklers.com for about $ 250.00 or so. It is expensive, but it looks great and handled my new DIN type .MP3 player in it quite well.
Those are your options really.
