Do I need to replace the power window actuator or just the motor on a 1997 skylark?
All power windows have gone slower and slower until they don't work anymore. I see on Ebay and such that power window motors come either with or without the large metal actuators. Is it OK to just replace the motor, or do I need the entire motor and actuator package?? Just trying to save money.... Thanks!!
If the glasses went up and down without binding or tilting when they were working then the actuator (regulator) is fine. When you replace the motors be sure to lubricate the regulator arms with spray grease and lubricate the glass channels with spray silicone. If they ever start to slow down again, lubricate the channels with the silicone.
