3 silicon wrappings of wires come out of it, two for two lights, one for power. It's a little box that can turn on these small tube like lights (think neons) or turn them on to the beat of music. It was originally meant for a computer and thus has a USB power connector. I want to hook it up to a 12v car battery and have a little accent lighting underneath my seats. Of course I need to cut the usb off and get my positive and ground, but am I going to blow the board or lights if I just throw it onto the battery? I have no idea what sort of resister I would need to add or if all the ones that are on there already will do the job.

Since there's probably not a cigarette lighter under your seat, you will have to either wire one in, or just wire positive 12v to the plug tip and common to the side connectors of the plug, and go from there. 12v to USB for your lights.
