How do I remove the radio of a 99 Mercury Sable?
I just purchased a 1999 Mercury Sable from a used car dealership. It didn't come with a CD player, so I wanted to use a CD/Tape converter. When I went to plug the tape in, I found another one jammed inside the cassette deck. Eject and a small screwdriver/knife could not remove the tape without damage to the front face plate.
I was wondering if there's a way to remove the face plate from the dashboard so that I can get to the cassette deck. The face plate has four small holes on the sides (2 on each side), and I've come to the conclusion that that's how it's attached, but I don't know how to detach it.
Does anybody know how?
Buy some keys at your local stereo shop (or most auto parts stores have them). They are only a couple bucks and will save you a lot of headache. You can make your own but if you aren't careful its very easy to bend those clips that hold it in and then its almost impossible to get the radio out in one piece.
