Multi Vehicle Door
How to evacuate from a hurricane...with two vehicles and one driver?

I have both a motorcycle and a mid-sized sedan (with no trailer or trailer hook-ups), living in a condo with no garage (first-level parking), and Hurricane Ike is heading my way.
--------------
My instinct says to park the car at some category-5-proof garage (IE an airport or major office building garage) and hop on my motorcycle (which takes a next to nothing amount of gas to fill up) with a backpack and a few side bags full of clothes.
------
However I have no clue what policies there are about paid parking in multi-level garages during hurricanes...or what other options there are.
In addition, I have a huge sliding glass door leading to a second floor porch...and have no clue how to board it up WITHOUT getting locked outside.

Any ideas?

The parking garage is a good idea. I would say the airport is a good bet, they won't be checking boarding passes and you can come and go as you please.

As far as the second story glass door. Is there a way you can borrow a ladder from someone? Since you live in a condo there is probably a management group that handles outside maintenance. Tell them what you need to do and ask them if you could have some help getting down.

Do your planning now and get out before the storm gets any closer.

Best of luck!
