Module Dvd Kit
Building a Desktop PC but need to see if all this hardware will work together?

I'm making a desktop pc so i am asking if these products will work and fit with each other here are the names of the items i am thinking of getting (they are all from pc world). JEANTECH Sphinx PC Tower Case, GIGABYTE GA-MA74GM-S2H AMD 740G + SB710 microATX Motherboard - AM3 socket, AMD Athlon II X2 250 Processor, INTEGRAL PC2-6400 DDR2-800 DIMM RAM Memory Module Kit - 2GB (2x 1GB), PNY NVIDIA GeForce 210 PCI-E Graphics Card, WD Scorpio Blue Internal 2.5” SATA 320GB Hard Drive, LG GH22NP20 Internal PATA Super Multi DVD Rewriter, and HIGHPOWER PUFP-405 ATX PC Power Supply Unit – 405W.... please help??

Change the hard drive to:

WD Caviar Green Internal 3.5” SATA 500GB Hard Drive

or just another 3.5" SATA drive of your choice, as the one you have selected is a hard drive for notebook computers (2.5" = meant to be portable). The voltages are different as well as the physical size and it will not be usable in the case you have selected. There will be no way to use it without two adapters (one for the power and one for the size difference) or an external USB enclosure to put it in.

Everything else looks ok but you might want to up the power supply a bit say 500W minimum.

Those 210 cards are using a 64 bit memory interface also. This will slow down permonace a bit, but it will work.

Selections appears pretty limited at this place, and I am in the U.S. so I can't tell you what would be a better local place to get stuff but I usually use Newegg.com.

A bit of search turned up this comments:

which gives this place for UK parts

Looks like a bit better selection to me.

and the barebones selection where you pick and chose upgraded parts looks pretty nice too.

NOTE: You can get better hardware advice if you tell us what you are building the computer for.

1. Email and social networking with some light gaming? (these will be just fine then)

2. Hard core gaming rig? (need a better graphics card and power supply at least and maybe a better cpu depending on what games you plan on playing)

3. Video editing? (minimum you should go for now is a 4 core cpu at 3GHZ for this)

Hope it helps you.

Good luck!
