Pretty much what I've already specified in the title.
I'm thinking about starting a mobile catering venture and need to run a solitary appliance at 1200w. I was wondering if it was feasible to use a commercial/car battery to power it instead of a petrol based generator.
1200w is what it uses at it's peak, on standby mode I think it consumes 300w. The appliance will be switched on for at least 8 hours each day.
It's a bean to cup coffee machine. It doesn't run constantly at 1200w. When it's on but not but not in use it consumes about 300w.
Yeah you can use a petrol generator to power it however having an all in one unit with zero pollution/noise emissions seems quite appealing.
I'm not gonna bother with propane as lugging around an additional canister plus the generator won't be very convenient.
1200 watts at 12 volts is 100 amps. Even a fairly large battery would only run for 3 or 4 hours at that rate. I don't think battery power is practical. What kind of appliance is it? Can you find a propane powered version?
