My computer is an HP Windows 7, I got an extra monitor from my old computer which is an LCD too. I got a GigaWare Splitter cable for VGA from RadioShack for dual vga because my tower doesn't have 2 vga plugs, I connected it to the tower, then used 2 vga cables to the two out plugs and connected it to the 2 monitors but it only MIRRORS the main desktop. Not extend, and what is worse is that is doesn't even detect the second monitor.
I know that you can just press the Windows logo + P and click extend but that isn't working. Please help
I'm sorry but you can't extend your desktop by using one of those splitters. All that does is spread the same signal to both monitors. The problem is that as far as the computer knows you only have one video output (the splitter). There's no way for the computer to know it spreads into two monitors, and even if it did know there is no way it can transmit two screens through the same plug.
Your best bet would just be to find the absolute cheapest graphics card you can, and install it so that you have two vga outputs built directly into the computer. The cheapies can go for as little as $30.
