About a month ago, right after an oil change, the transmission light came on in my Caravan. I checked the fluid and it was low, so I added some and waited a few days to see if the light would go off by itself (as it says in the manual). It didn't. About a week later, my engine was overheating on my way to work but luckily made it to Canadian Tire and had to add about 3 litres of coolant to the rad (there were no visible signs of leakage anywhere, but I replaced the rad over a year ago).
Also, I checked the error codes and got a P1491 which is I believe a "fan relay circuit" error code.
So, my question is: Is there really something wrong with my tranny or do I just need to reset the light? And if there is something wrong with it, could it be related to the rad/fan problem?
p1491 is the (radiator fan control relay circuit)and i would guess the relay or a fuse is bad and if you fix that it would solve your other problem,the relay should be on the drivers side fender well good luck.
