Why do some parents blame their child's bad behavior on video games?
I don't get it.
Video games such as Grand Theft Auto IV stirred up a lot of controversy partly because of parents who found its material offensive.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if parents have a problem with video games, why don't they step up and control what their child can access?
I love to play both violent and non-violent video games and I am a polite, timid person who won't resort to violence unless backed into a corner or pushed too far.
I hope I am wrong but I am afraid that video games will eventually be banned because of people who don't want to take responsibility for their actions, like the young man who tried to steal a car and led police on a wild goose chase because he "wanted to see if stealing a car is as easy as it looks in Grand Theft Auto."

The video game is never the cause of crime, it's the kid committing the crime. I mean, if you're dumb enough to want to steal a car based on a video game, or f'd up enough to use video games to 'practice murder' then you've got problems regardless of video games.
Parents have issues with video games, movies, and Marylin Manson, because it's easier to blame these things for your kid being bad, then admitting you've done a bad job bringing your kid up.
At the end of the day, violence and crime has been around a lot longer than video games. I mean, the Bible is one of the most violent books I ever read, but you never hear calls for that being banned because of all the violence!
