Can LED light bulbs harm your eyes?
I was reading about blue light hazard. are they safe?
There is some debate over this. Overexposure to all light is bad. And they have found that after twelve hours, exposure to short wavelength light such as blue light causes a little more cellular damage in the retina. However, cellular breakdown is common, and your eyes have a number of defenses against it. For this reason, it is mostly the very young, the elderly, or those with immune system disorders they are concerned about.
It will take years, or perhaps a lifetime of exposure to blue light to cause real damage in most people, but if you do not want to risk it, it is easy to alter the frequency of light from a LED or other blue light bulb with a lampshade or other filter.
