Wedding Accent Lighting? How do I light up the walls?
I've seen a lot of great photos of reception areas lit up with colored lights that make the room glow a particular color. I'm in SC and can't find anyone on my own to do it.
I'm considering hiring a wedding coordinator to help with little things like this I can't seem to do on my own but the truth is I don't really feel like I will need one, I just can't figure out how to do something like this.
Any tips? Is there a simple "do it yourself" rental way I can do this that I'm not thinking of? Here's an example of a website that does things like this, but they are across the country from me. (http://www.encorepartydjs.com/)
Just go to a lighting rental place, ask to rent as many "par 46" or larger light cans that you need. Maybe just call a few lighting rental companies close to your residence and ask for some help.
Make sure the par cans have a stand underneath. If they don't, ask for some so all you have to do is plug them in a point them. Ask for the color of gels you want to rent. As a lighting company they should have a large selection of color gels. Make sure you take a few different color because the color you pick may not look the same as you thought it would.
Now just do "up lighting" around the perimeter of the room as symmetrically as you like.
You truly have a great idea to ad impact to your wedding. Lighting is cheap and makes your event look twice as good as it would have. Good luck
EDIT "DIY-ing this is not going to be an easy option, unless you have electrician experience, you can set your place on fire or blow a fuse. Leave this one to the pros!"
LOL, you don't need electrical experience to plug in lights. Your not going to set the place on fire.
