I have 4 gauge ground on my amp and 2 gauge power wire.
I was told by someone that I should bring the ground down to 2 gauge too but I was wondering if I could just raise the power wire to the same gauge as the ground (4 awg) and keep the ground at 4 gauge. and also I need some extra wire and I was wondering if power wire and ground are the same thing in the inside, just one is black and the other has red on the outside? because I was just going to buy red coated wire and use some of it as ground wire in places that need ground wire. but I wasn't sure if there was a difference. I will put some black tape over the red so it isn't confusing that it's a ground and not a red wire.
It's highly recommended that your power and ground wires are the same exact gauge...
Pretty much it's just a wire... Nothing special... What makes a wire a ground wire is because it's connected to the ground... What makes a power wire a power wire is when it's connected to your battery to your amp...
So ya, doesn't matter what color the wire is... Just make sure not to mix them up...
