Need Mot advice about a D.I.Y fog light?
Ok car failed mot on rear fog light not working
i cant seem to fix it and n garage is available to do it in the nxt 4 days and the mot re test is over in 4 days so need this sorted asap
the fog is a duel filament first filament being a normal red light (tail light) 2nd filament being the 21w for the fog
tail works fine fog doesent
would i be able to remove the fog switch and put a new one in with its own 12v supply and direct feed this to a new fog light situated just below all the original lights in the housing?
would this pass an mot? as i have seen rear fog light wiring kits and there pretty easy 2 do ?
or would they fail me on the account that the original doesent work?
my plan is to do this DIY light then remove it after the mot is passed and book it into a garage as soon as they aint fully booked

Replace the bulb first. A burned out fog filament is the most likely cause, and easiest fix.
If that doesn't work then the light switch that controls the rear fog lamp may be to blame.
If this doesn't work, just get it booked into a garage as soon as you can. Whilst you may be able to make the DIY solution work, it's a lot of trouble to do it, undo it, and then book into garage. The risk of driving a day or two with an out-of-date MOT is low, and if you have proof of a booked garage visit that may help.
Halfords will fit bulbs for you and, if the bulb doesn't solve the issue, may help a little troubleshooting the problem.
