1984 CHEVY C10/ Truck Interior Restoration?
I have stripped everything out of my truck and want to redo everything in the interior. I took out the carpet and I want to put the dynamat or fatmat but i wanted to ask can i put the carpet over that or do i have to put watever the factory had under the carpet over the insulation mat then put the carpet or will the insulation mat be enough without the factory sound deadener over the stuff i put. Also some moron cut out the metal surrounding the radio to fit an after market radio and carved out 5 1/4 holes in the doors to put some speakers. i want it to look original. Where can i go to get that fabricated in houston, tx. Or what would i have to look for here to go get it done.
LMC trucks and year one for parts.
Now you can lay down your dynamat then just place the carpet over it, you do not have to use the factory sound blocker if you don't want too, but it can't hurt to use it as well.
For the cut out radio hole, and door holes. You will need to weld in a new panel.
I would take a cordless sawsall to a local junkyard and cut the radio panel out of one, then bring it back home, fit it in place and weld it in with a mig welder. Grind weld down smooth and paint. Easy fix if you own cutting and welding tools
