that sounds like a very decent system. It will be good for pretty much anything you require it to do, including games. keep in mind, with the way technology goes, you are probably covered for around 2 years (maybe 3 if you are lucky) until new games require higher specifications, but for collage work you will blitz it.
Remember however, to prolong battery life, make sure you let the it run purely on battery power at times, and once a month, let the battery run until flat before recharging it, otherwise the battery life will be shortened significantly. If you have an option of getting a higher cell battery, do that, as that is usually the first thing to go.
