If my amp put out 1000 watts rms at 2 ohms, would wiring one 4ohm DVC sub be getting 1000 watts or less because of the 4 ohm resistance? I would wire as follows:

ohms are a system of measurement for resistance, or how hard it is for the electrical current to pass through a wire. Since 4 ohms is twice as high as 2 ohms you will get half the wattage as you would if you were using 2 ohms, or 500 watts. However if your voice coils each have a resistance of 4 ohms then you can wire them in parallel to create a 2 ohm resistance.
To do this run the speaker wires from the first voice coil to the second + to + and - to -. So your connections should be + (amp terminal) to + (first vc terminal) to + (second vc terminal) and - (amp terminal) to - (first vc) to - (second vc terminal). this will give a your full 1000 watts between the two voice coils, or 500 watts each coil.
