I have a Ducane roof mounted heat pump for about 3 years. I have had to add freon, change thermostat 2 times, blower wheel. The house shakes when the heat pump is on, the repair commpany replaced the blower wheel and it still makes the house shake. Since I got the thermostat replaced, when I have it on cool, the system runs from 10am to 1or2am nonstop. I live in Phoenix, AZ. Also the thermostat reading goes up instead of down. For example I have it set for 78 degrees but during the day it goes up to 80 degrees.
Is all this normal?
An HVAC tech came from the company I purchased the Ducane from to change the blower wheel a couple of days ago. He didn't say anything about the compressor. He said that it should work better. Well it is still shaking the house. When it was new or even a year old, I don't remember the heat pump running how long it is now without stopping.
Sounds to me like the compressor has some internal damage causing the vibration. This would also be the reason the house is not cooling properly. Most compressors have 5 year warranty, You will still have to pay for the labor, drier and refrigerant.
