Push on power button. Power light turns on green, flashes a few times. Then the power light turns red and flashes in a sequence of 3 blinks, which repeats over and again. We replaced the projection lamp, still same. We did power reset, still same. We ensured lamp door cover securely in place, still same. We spray dusted the area, still same. Sometimes the TV WILL turn on if my husband fiddles with the lamp door, and we go through the Setup Menu - Lamp Replacement process. Then the TV will stay on for about 1 to 2", and blink out again. Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
More than likely it is the power board on the tv that is broken. You will need to have it replace. You can email or call the manufacturer and see what they say. More than likely they will not be a big help beside telling you to take it to one of there authorized repair shop. Ask for a cost estimate of the repair, more than likely it cost cost you around $500. In that case it will not be cost effective to repair it than just buying a new one. This is a common issue with low end Sony tvs. Go online to Home Theater Magazine and read the reviews on tvs, along with the pro and con of each technology. You will notice that there are more Panasonic Plasma tv being recommend than any brand in the market today. In November issue of the magazine the Panasonic VT series model was name the best tv for 2010. Hope this will help you out.
