First of all, you probably were scammed. Most of the power ratings on car amps are nonsense, they are taken at frequencies and distortion levels that make them meaningless. You have to understand the full specs to know what you are getting. A "clean" 150 watt amp will sound much better than a junk 1500 watt one, and put out more real power as well. Second, you have to understand a few things about how electricity works. A 1600 watt amp, if it really had that output, would need more than 100 amps peak power from your car, enough to dim your lights and maybe stall your engine without big caps and maybe a second battery, not to mention dedicated wiring. The fact that you are running it from your cigarette lighter which has maybe 1/8 of that power available before it blows the fuse, and not blowing a fuse, tells me it's a junk amp with no real power.
