I have a new LG HDTV that I am connecting to a bluray, wii and digital cable box. I also have a LG 2.1 virtual surround sound system that I was gonna use for the audio (till I get something better).
Here is my question. On the back of the audio system there aren't enough inputs for each separate system. So if I connect an optical audio cable from my TV to the audio system, will that transfer what ever sounds are coming out of the TV to the audio system though its speakers? For example. If I turn on the Bluray player and set the audio system to the correct input (aux) will I be able to hear the audio with the setup I mentioned, and after I turn off the bluray and turn back to cable would I be able to hear audio with out switching components on the audio system?
Hopefully I am not being too confusing? As you can see I am having a bit of trouble with it my self. Thanks
You can try and see. Those connections are always confusing and sometimes they don't work especially with budget audio equipment.
Connect the "TV Audio Out" to an input on the audio system. Then you can use that setting on your audio system to hear anything that is connected to the "audio in" input on the TV set - at least in theory that is how it should work.
Use other audio inputs on the audio system for the other items.
