How do I change my headlights from halogen to REAL HID (not illegal conversion kit) for my 97 Cadillac Catera?
I wish to attain the luxury look that luxury vehicles have for there stock HID headlights. My stock headlights are halogen. Would I have to replace the whole headlamp? Is there a good website or company that sells this? AGAIN I do not want the conversion kit where you only change out the bulb....
You could retrofit a set of OEM xenon projectors into the headlamp housing. Lexus Rx330 projectors aren't too expensive and perform great. You could fit them into your reflector housing, OR you could get a set of aftermarket projector headlamps for your car off ebay (search "catera projector") and fit xenon projectors into those. The second option is easier, as you can just swap out the projector. Keep in mind, the ebay projector lamps are made for halogen bulbs. So this is why you must swap out them for xenon projectors, and get an HID kit. You will get a much better cutoff with minimal glare. I'm assuming of course that your stock headlamps are reflector based, if they have halogen projectors it would be simply be swapping the halogen projectors for xenon projectors of the same diameter.
