Which exterior, wall mount, step light would be best for my project?
I am building brick columns and wrought iron fencing to replace the old, dated chain link fence & gates in my front and side yard. I want to build into four of the brick columns by the driveway and entry gates, what I've learned all called exterior, "wall mount step lights." They will serve to illuminate the gate and entry ways at night and will be connected to my porch light switch inside the house.
I've been googling "exterior, wall mount, step lights" and am now more confused than ever, with the wide array of choices of fixtures and light bulbs, voltages, etc. Too any choices makes a novice confused! ;-/ Not good!
Anyone out there can help me out at this point. The fixtures will be built into the brick columns. That's all I know. But as for finding the right lights, I am lost.
Consulting with an electrician is not the soundest advice. The advice you should consider is to find a lighting showroom near where you live. Besides dealing with a number of different vendors, they will usually have lighting specialists to best understand your needs and explain all the options you have. That is what we are trained to do. The electrical is the easy part. The electrician will usually do the same old as they are used to, not necessarily the correct thing for your needs. You can go to the American Lighting Associations' web site to direct you to the showroom near you.
