wich car subwoofer is better for home audio?
my lil nephew wants to have two subs in his room but with a home stereo receiver, the brand is sherwood, just a regular a+b receiver, but he wants some jensen or dual brand subs cause they look good, but i know they suck, am not trying to hate but thats my opinion on those subs and most people know that, ok so i want to offer him to buy some other type of subs but not expensive either, and if your just going to say "its just for home use so it dont matter" or some stupid related answers just dont answer it, and i know its still gonna get the same amount of watts to it because he aint changing the receiver wich is 105 watts per channel going trough 8-ohms so each sub is gonna get 205 watts, but it still matters wich type of subs they are right? but thats cause i dont dont really like car subs in my room so i dont really care about wich brands are used for home being car subs, i only care for that in my car but he wont listen to buy a regular home sub, so wich subs you think are best?
well, many manufactures use the same drivers for home and for the car. the difference is how they are configured to give the proper impedance. you mention hooking it to the home stereo, but is there a crossover being used? if not it will sound like butt, unless you by a self powered sub with a built in crossover, which wont work in the car, becasue you need to "plug it in". the home stereo requires 8 ohm per channel, what about for the car? what is the amp being used? i would recomend a pair of subs (each 4 ohm), that can be configured to 8 ohm or 2 ohm (connecting in series vs. parrallel.). which if using a pair would actually require 4 subs in two inclosures. or 2 dual voice coils (dual 4 ohm) in a pair of enclosures. considering the names you mentioned i supplied a link to a 25 dollar 12" sub, that will hit as low as 20hz. and handles up to 200 Watts each.
