I want the player for the car. It should have / do the following:
* it must have video output connection (e.g. S-Video or RCA)
* It should be somewhat shock-resistant
* it does NOT have to have a screen (that's why I need the connectors)
* It should have a connector for external power
* it shouldn't be too expensive
* I don't care about the medium (HDD, Flash, DVD)
* it must play DivX and MPEG
* I'm not looking for a regular or portable DVD player!
The more recent iPods have video output, but videos need to be converted first if they aren't in the correct format 
. Might be too pricey for you, also. My suggestion if you're looking for a cheap portable video player is to look for mp3 player type devices which also have a video output.
