I'm getting this system from polk http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/db6501/. It's a 300W peak power. Should I get a 2 channel or a 4 channel amp and can you recommend a good one for cheap? Thanks!
Right, I'd say I could do between $100 and $200 for an amp. The closer to $100 the better.
Also, what should the wattage on the amp be?
Channels. Amps have one or more channels. A 1-channel (or mono) amp drives subwoofers and is usually Class D. A 2-channel amp will drive two speakers, or it can be "bridged" into one channel to drive a subwoofer. A 4-channel amp will drive front and back speakers, or it can be bridged into two or three channels to drive-for example-two speakers and a sub.
It appears that you should go with a 4 channel. And to recommend one for cheap requires certain budget. If you can determine that then I can find one to suit your needs
