I got a 97 Chevrolet Truck C1500 1/2ton P/U 2WD, And im wanting to put in a audio system in it but I dont know how. I want to know from start to finish.
Along with every one else go with crutchfield to buy your car audio. They come with detailed install instructions. For the head unit though there will be a wiring harness adapter to plug into your truck. You simply splice the color matching wires from the headunit to the new harness and plug it along with your antenna wire in(also uses an adapter that is supplied). If you get new speakers from them there will also be adapter to mount and plug in your speakers you just connect the positives and negatives and plug them in. If you run an amp and subwoofer you are going to need the amp sub and box that will fit in your truck and a wiring kit. For the amp wiring you run RCAs and a remote wire from the headunit to the amp. Then you run a power wire from the battery to the amp and a ground from the amp to any good ground on the vehicle the closer the better. Then run speaker wire from the amp to the subs. Sounds like a lot but its fairly simple.
