I am installing a BOSS radio/CD/DVD player in my 2004 Explorer SportTrak. It has a pigtail that must be connected to the parking brake electrical mechanism so that the DVD will play only if the vehicle is parked and the parking brake is engaged.
This defeats a major part of my need for the unit. I travel a lot and LISTEN to training DVDs. I do not need to watch them--the presenter is simply standing giving lectures which I need to hear. But with this lockout feature, I can listen to them only sitting parked with the parking brake engaged. This defeats much of my need for the unit--to listen to the audio tracks of the DVDs.
I am the only person who ever drives my pickup and I will remove the unit when I sell the vehicle.
How can I bypass this DVD lockout feature? To what can I attach the pigtail wire to fool the system?
there are 2 options that you can try. at least one of them should work for you. the first is to simply ground the wire, the second is to wire it to a toggle switch, which you can turn on and off simulating the parking brake. hope this helps.
