07 silverado has remote start accommodations on it but don’t have the fob with the remote start button.?
i have a 07 silverado LT 1 Z71. My fob only has the lock and unlock button on it. The dealer said I had to buy a 199.00 deal that has 2 new fobs and then I would need to have my truck reprogrammed to use the electric start. I don’t understand what the “remote start accommodations package” is.
I know that what remote start is, but do i just need the fobs or do i need to have my truck reprogramed
alright thanks, I bought the truck new i just got to questioning the fact that it says it has it and don't, ill check the fob i got now
This must be a used truck. Assuming the truck has remote start (I think it was standard on the Z71) the new ones comes with the remote start fob. I don't know why he's charging you extra for something that should be included. Before doing anything I'd suggest you use a coin to open the FOB as if you were changing the battery. Once open check for the remote start functionality on the keypad. I believe all the fobs are identical internally, they just don't have the extra openings in the case and the membrane. If it has the remote start contacts I'd suggest buying fob on ebay with the remote start openings and membrane and swap the insides with your fob. I'm guessing since if it opens your doors it will also start the truck if it had the membrane.
You might also check with some other GM dealers, don't need to be Chevy, particularly online and request quotes for the proper fob. They can program the fob knowing your VIN and you should be able to find some who will do it for quite a bit less than $200. I believe they program the fob and don't have to do anything to the truck. I've seen quotes under $100.
Edit: I missed your LT1. I thought is was an LTZ. Remote was not standard on the LT1 so you probably do need to get the truck programmed. $200 is about the price of the option when new.
