I recently bought a garter belt thinking it had simple metal clips but instead it has like a circle with a rubber stopper to hold them in place.. I bought them off of hot topic's website... But anyway, I cant get the thigh highs to stay no matter what I do... any advice?
The "circle" of metal doesn't go all the way around. Just grip the rubber button on the top and bottom and slide it toward the rest of the garter strap while holding the metal part still with your other hand. It might be tight, but it'll come loose.
Undo all the garter clasps and put on the belt, then roll on your stockings one at a time, Starting with the back garters, slide the rubber part with the button into the top of the stocking welt about an inch down, pinch the stocking material to the rubber part around the little button and push it back down into the metal part. It takes both hands and doing up the back garters is always a little awkward at first. Do the same with the front garters, make sure everything's taut, then stand and adjust everything.
If this doesn't work, maybe you can ask a friend who wears vintage clothes and wears garter belts or an older female relative who probably wore them when she was younger for help. That or take them back to the store and see if someone there can help you.
