Using windows XP - when we use our web cam at night, the LED night vision lights come on OK, but then they stay on after the computer has been switched off.
There is no external power to the cam, it plugs into usb port at back of computer.
Where is it getting power from? backup battery? and is there a way of turning the lights off (that doesn't involve crawling under the table and unplugging then crawling under to plug back in)
Is this a common problem - or maybe just a problem for me -
I just want the lights to shut down with the rest of the computer.
When your computer is off, the power supply will continue to supply a tiny amount of power. I'm not sure, but it seems to help keep the BIOs settings intact (once there is NO power, the motherboard draws power to keep it's CMOS chip alive, otherwise it "forgets" everything). Unfortunately the only way would be to cut off power to something. The easiest way would be to reach back and flip the power supply's switch and the lights should die off in a second or two.
