how to connect Yamaha AV 1900 to Boston acoustics sub woofer?
I originally set my my receiver with just two large Tannoy front speakers it works fine but I want to add this subwoofer, During the auto set-up the receiver sends sound to subwoofer but after the set-up the receiver does not sent any sound to the subwoofer. The subwoofer is not seen on the screen of the receiver but just the two front speakers.Can someone help please. thank you
If you have your subwoofer hooked up via the subwoofer out on the back of the Receiver (LFE), just make sure that in the setup menu you have subwoofer set to "ON" and you should be set. I bet you this is why the sub isnt working after the fact, because the YPAO tests all the channels even if you have certain channels not hooked up or shut off.
The screen on the front of the Receiver probably will not light the LFE symbol unless there is 5.1 or 7.1 audio present. I do not have a subwoofer hooked up to my Yamaha RX-V3800 (because my Definitive Technology Supertowers have built in subwoofers) yet when there is 5.1 or 7.1 audio present the "LFE" symbol lights up anyways. It also did the same thing with center channel CLR symbol before I even had a center hooked up to it.
Bottom Line: The screen on the receiver only shows what type of audio is present and not what you have hooked up to the receiver.
