Amplifier Amp Cheap
I'm looking for a cheap amplifier to add to my home audio system.?

Looking for...
two channel power amp
150-300w rms per channel
reliable
low noise
cheaper is better (under $250)
I'm not looking for stunning audio quality, just something that functions properly.

Any suggestions?

Thank you both for your input. I was just looking for something very simple, just something to drive my two speaker cabs. I just wanted to upgrade from the 30-40w preamp in my receiver. I'm pretty familiar with car audio, but not as much with home audio. Again, thank you. I'll probably just hit up craigslist.

You are not going to find something "reliable" or good for that price new.

My advice: since you are looking for a 2-channel amp, hit CraigsList and find a 5-7 year old Flagship receiver that is 5.1 channels, but use it instead.

I found a Yamaha A-1 receiver with 130 watts per channel (Massive 65 lb beast) for $300 a few months ago. Someone was selling a Dennon 5200 (used to be $3,000) for $200. These ARE stunning audio and build quality, but they are older and do not have all the bells like HDMI switching, iPod, Sat radio, etc., that people want.

Just stick with good name brands like Yamaha, Dennon, Onkyo, Pioneer Elite (not the others) or Sony ES series (not the others).

Remember - that power plant from good companies will drive 5 speakers continuously but this means it is over-powered and will run cool and reliably for 2 channel.
