Americans - now that your economy is in terminal meltdown, how are you going to cope with it?
Do you see it as every dog for himself? And will you be buying extra ammo for your guns?
Or are you prepared to roll with the punches and try and find new ways to live?
Or are you just scared?
Or do you not care?
Or do you think America will be just fine?
ken s - noone is suggesting you can't bounce back, darling. But will you be part of the solution or part of the problem? My "crap hole nation" is not as worried as yours... but cares about your nation more than you do ours ![]()
itzazoo and huckle - I am trying to understand the American psychology but when you equate guns/ammo/food with "rolling with the punches" it just sounds kinda unstable.... how's that gonna work out when there are millions of you?
As you can see from some of the answers, many people actually believe that the progress of the economy somehow depends on who is elected president next week. They believe that electing a man with a certain political label and supposed policies can save them. These people will make no preparations since they expect to be saved.
Some people are buying weaponry and rations, but even they fail to recognize the depths this society may fall to. You can't buy enough rations for ten or twenty years, and if you do and your neighbors find out, you won't have it for long. You can kill quite a few of them while they're taking it, but you can't hold out forever.
Basically, barring accident, I expect my house to be my shelter for several more years, although it's entirely possible that it may become a heatless, lightless, and waterless dwelling. I am studying how to get by under those circumstances. I am also studying foraging and would like to buy a gun, not for defense but to hunt small animals. And I have a couple of skills that I will be able to use for barter when the money is toilet paper.
Barring that, the best thing is to get hired on by the top 1% of the nation, who will always be able to get whatever they want or need, but will need peons to help them guard it and in some cases produce it.
