I was driving home from work and my check engine light came on as I pulled onto my street. When I got home I checked all fluid levels and couldn't for the life of me figure out what was up. Having a '94 Plymouth Voyager that I've replaced everything on (as it's failed) I know many symptoms related to breakdowns, but couldn't find anything out of place with my Accent. I've got it scheduled for maintenance tomorrow but I need to pick my brother up at the airport TONIGHT which is a 2 hour drive on the freeway...so sustained rpms. Just trying to decide if it's worth the risk or if I should make other arrangements which should be fun around this time of night....
Btw, just got this Accent but already have put 19k on it and I do alot of freeway travel. Luckily I have the 100k powertrain warranty. My sister has an older accent and her check engine light came on too, but according to the dealership it was a computer glitch...
If the engine or transmission is not acting up, I would recommend you to go to airport to pick up your brother. Providing the check engine light is not flashing, it is still safe to drive. 09 Accents are know for ignition coil failing. Even if this is the case, you will have 1 out of 4 coils failing and still be able to drive. Go to airport, do your thing, don't think about it and tomorrow take it to dealer. As you have said, you have plenty of warranty.
